The Left Assaults the Heartland
By Don Feder
FrontPageMagazine.com | November 12, 2004

Liberals took their historic defeat in the 2004 elections quite well. They could have reacted with bitterness, rancor and hysteria. Instead they were gracious, and engaged in thoughtful introspection.

I’m kidding.

Actually, liberals behaved predictably. They’ve spent the past week sneering at red-state residents – remarking on the alleged poverty, stupidity and plain gullibility of Bush country (combined with neo-Marxist cant about how capitalists use faith appeals to control the masses).

The more intrepid among them are talking about emigrating to Canada. The more delusional are toying with the idea of secession.

Reuters tells us that the day after the election, hits on the Canadian government’s immigration website increased six-fold – almost double the previous record high.

Leftists should feel right at home in our socialistic, gun-banning, gay-marrying, speech-suppressing, multicultural-worshiping neighbor to the north. If we could exchange our liberals for their conservatives, it would be perfect.

On the "McLaughlin Group," (November 7) MSNBC political analyst Lawrence O’Donnell said there will be "a serious discussion of secession over the next 20 years." Since most of our military comes from red states, who do the blues imagine will defend them? The French? The Aspen Institute? An elite force of yoga instructors?

Liberals have concocted a fantasy version of America, where all of the nation’s brain-power and productivity reside in the blue states, while red America is a land of trailer parks, country-music bars, tractor-pulls and Klan rallies. (Quick, someone tell the Texans with their oil reserves, cattle and industrial output that they’re a virtual wasteland.)

There may be more money in New York and California than in Oklahoma and Indiana. But most of the people in the blue states who’ve created that wealth voted for Bush. According to exit polls, Bush got 63% of the vote of those with incomes of $200,000 and up.

And the cops, firefighters and physicians who keep the cultural elitists safe and well? They voted for Bush too. Likewise the farmers who keep them fed and the contractors and construction workers who build their homes, offices and roads.

Who will patrol the streets of an independent Blue America? Mental health professionals who specialize in conflict resolution? Defense attorneys? Who’ll perform open-heart surgery – holistic healers?

Despite the wealth of Wall Street, and mansions in Beverly Hills, Blue America is rife with urban decay, illegal immigrants, poverty, crime, taxes and gargantuan government. California is bankrupt. New Jersey is chronically corrupt. Try finding an English-speaking cabbie in New York.

Taxes are so high in Kerry’s home state that there’s an ongoing middle-class flight. (Massachusetts lost more than 79,000 residents in the past 12 years.) Factories move from Michigan and Pennsylvania to Tennessee and South Carolina, not in the opposition direction.

Overtaxed, government-heavy, welfare-friendly, de-industrializing – no wonder the left thinks Blue America is nirvana.

A constant refrain runs through the liberal post-election rant – "They so stupid." Red state residents are portrayed as slack-jawed knuckle-draggers, ignorant, superstitious yokels inflamed by wily politicians and pernicious preachers.

ABC News correspondent Carole Simpson said this year’s election results reflected the triumph of the "stupid."

Bush campaigned by "pandering to people’s fears, petty interests and prejudices," shrilled Newsweek columnist Sheryl McCarthy. "How can 59,054,087 people be so dumb?" asked a headline in the London tabloid, The Daily Mirror.

In case you’ve missed the message, novelist Jane Smiley drove it home – with a sledge hammer -- in a slate.com column of November 4th.

"The good news is that 55 million Americans have evaded the ignorance-inducing machine. But 58 million have not," Smiley declared, adding, "The election results reflect the decision of the right wing to cultivate and exploit ignorance in the citizenry."

Warming to her theme, Smiley inveighs on the MSN website, "Jimmy Carter … asked Americans to take responsibility for their profligate ways, and promptly lost to Ronald Reagan, who told them once again that they could do anything they wanted."

And you thought it had something to do with stagflation, a little jerk in a cardigan, the Tehran hostage crisis and the global advance of Soviet communism – fool that you are!

"The history of the last four years shows that red state types, above all, do not want to be told what to do – they prefer to be ignorant. As a result, they are virtually unteachable," Smiley sneers.

Stupid and selfish to boot! They don’t want to be told what to do. They resist directives from Nanny State- GHQ. Who do they think they are – Americans?

By the way, red-state residents are so selfish that they have more children, are more likely to volunteer for military service and give more to charity than their blue counterparts.

Compassionate, caring, blue-through-and-through Massachusetts has the second lowest per capita charitable giving in the nation. According to the Catalogue of Philanthropy, in 2004, the 10 states with the highest per person giving went for Bush, and the 10 stingiest states (per capita) voted for Kerry.

Smiley also informs us that, "Ignorance and bloodlust have a long tradition in the United States, especially in the red states. There used to be a kind of hand-to-hand fight on the frontier called ‘knock-down-drag-out,’ where any kind of gouging, biting, or maiming was considered fair. The ancestors of today’s red-state voters used to stand around cheering and betting on these fights."

Not just ignorant, selfish savages -- but sadistic too.

But of course, the Central Park Jogger rape took place in Topeka. No, come to think of it, the gang-assault and bludgeoning of a defenseless woman happened in Blue York City.

And the braining of Reginald Denny in the course of a race riot that left 55 dead, was that in Montgomery, Alabama? Again, no, that was in the other costal anchor of Blue Nation – Los Angeles. The brutal murders of Nicole Brown-Simpson and Laci Peterson also happened in La-La land.

By the way, if red-staters are so appallingly ignorant, then why did Bush win the votes of 52 percent of college grads (to 46 percent for Kerry). While it’s true that Kerry won the support of 55 percent of those with post-graduate degrees (to 44 percent for Bush), he also won a narrow majority of high-school dropouts – all Mensa members, no doubt.

Liberals also resurrected one of their favorite conspiracy theories: Republican plutocrats used appeals to ignorant, bigoted fundamentalism to get poor, benighted Christians to vote against their class interests – just the way they used race to the same effect, in years past.

Another slate.com contributor knowingly observed, "’Morality’ is the new ‘race’ – as in racism … But even as the agenda has now shifted to the sanctity of marriage, the ends and means remain remarkably consistent: Seduce the have-nots into a strange bedfellow-ship with the haves through emotional tribal markers that strike at some pre-rational sense of identity. Then they will be persuaded to vote against their own self-interest."

Says Smiley, "The reason the Democrats have lost five of the last seven presidential elections is simple: A generation ago, the big capitalists, who have no morals, as we know, decided to make use of the religious right in their class war against the middle class and against the regulations that were protecting those whom they considered to be their rightful prey – workers and consumers."

According to this bizarre theory, through an appeal to traditional religion, the tragic but hateful masses have been seduced into voting against the taxes and regulations that would have given them a better life. Why? Because they’re a bunch of really dumb bunnies – drooling idiots, when you get right down to it. (Or, as a 1994 Washington Post story put it, religious conservatives are "poor, uneducated and easy to command.")

There are any number of problems with this hypothesis. Big business doesn’t give to the Christian Coalition, which is funded by small contributors. Corporations open their coffers to the enemies of the Christian right. In Ohio’s recent marriage amendment referendum, business lavishly funded opponents of the ban on gay marriage.

Say what you will about George Bush, to maintain that his deep devotion and regular professions of faith all are faked to manipulate the little people, requires a breathtaking cynicism.

In the last election, the Christian vote wasn’t the product of evangelicals being hoodwinked by Republicans, but the result of this growing segment of the electorate being insulted and tormented by Democrats. To compound their folly, now liberals are jeering at these and other red-staters: "Hey, stupid!" (Gary Bauer says liberals have taken to referring to Bush country as "Jesusland." I don’t think it’s a term of affection.)

If you’re a political activist, your fondest hope is that the other side never gets it – that it remains eternally bereft of clues. Thus, the liberal response to their electoral donnybrook is a source of ongoing delight for me.

In a classic scene in the movie Conan The Barbarian, the protagonist is asked by the War Leader, "Conan, what is good?" The future governor of California replies: "To crush your enemies and drive them before you! To hear the lamentations of their women!"

I give you the lamentations of their women – and girlie men.

arafat=dying of aids?

Suspicions grow that Arafat is dying of AIDS
By israelinsider staff November 6, 2004

Former White House speechwriter David Frum has joined the growing chorus of pundits, medical experts, and intelligence operatives who claim Yasser Arafat is likely suffering from AIDS.

Frum, a key figure in Republican politics and the man who coined the terms "axis of evil," writes in National Review Online that Arafat's undisclosed illness is well-known, but has been kept under wraps by the mainstream media.

"Speaking of media bias, here's a question you won't hear in our big papers or on network TV: Does Yasser Arafat have AIDS?" asks Frum, who also writes for the National Post.

"We know he has a blood disease that is depressing his immune system. We know that he has suddenly dropped considerable weight -- possibly as much as one-third of all his body weight. We know that he is suffering intermittent mental dysfunction. What does this sound like?"

Earlier, John Loftus told John Batchelor on ABC radio on October 26 that Arafat is dying from AIDS. Loftus said the CIA has known this about Arafat for quite awhile and that as a result the US has encouraged Sharon not to take Arafat out because the US has known Arafat was about done. It was deemed better to have Arafat discredited as a homosexual.

Although homosexuality is rife in the Arab world, it is at least officially considered a sin and a crime, and regarded--especially in fundamentalist circles--as a mark of great shame and depravity.

Intelligence on "the tiger" romping with bodyguards
Frum pointed to KGB evidence linking Arafat to homosexual activities, citing a 1987 book by Lt.-Gen. Ion Pacepa, the deputy chief of Romania's intelligence service under Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.

In his memoirs "Red Horizons," Pacepa relates a conversation in 1978 with Constantin Munteaunu, a general assigned to teach Arafat and the PLO techniques to deceive the West into granting the organization recognition.

"I just called the microphone monitoring center to ask about the 'Fedayee,'" Arafat's code name, explained Munteaunu. "After the meeting with the Comrade, he went directly to the guest house and had dinner. At this very moment, the 'Fedayee' is in his bedroom making love to his bodyguard. The one I knew was his latest lover. He's playing tiger again. The officer monitoring his microphones connected me live with the bedroom, and the squawling almost broke my eardrums. Arafat was roaring like a tiger, and his lover yelping like a hyena."

Munteaunu continued: "I've never before seen so much cleverness, blood and filth all together in one man." Munteaunu, wrote Pacepa, spent months pulling together secret reports from Egyptian, Jordanian and Syrian intelligence agencies as well as Romanian files.

"I used to think I knew just about everything there was to know about Rahman al-Qudwa," Arafat's real name, "about the construction engineer who made a fortune in Kuwait, about the passionate collector of racing cars, about Abu Amman," Arafat's nom de guerre, "and about my friend Yasser, with all his hysterics," explained Munteaunu, handing Pacepa his final report on the PLO leader. "But I've got to admit that I didn't really know anything about him."

Pacepa wrote: "The report was indeed an incredible account of fanaticism, of devotion to his cause, of tangled oriental political maneuvers, of lies, of embezzled PLO funds deposited in Swiss banks, and of homosexual relationships, beginning with his teacher when he was a teen-ager and ending with his current bodyguards. After reading the report, I felt a compulsion to take a shower whenever I had been kissed by Arafat, or even just shaken his hand."

"If true, Arafat would have a great deal to conceal from his people and his murderously anti-homosexual supporters in the Islamic world," writes Frum, suggesting that Arafat was airlifted to France for medical treatment because he "could trust the French to protect his intimate secret."

The medical evidence adds up
Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath Monday said that all types of cancer had been ruled out, and the latest news is that French doctors have ruled out poisoning.

Medical observers note that a low blood platelet count is a sign of a weakened immune system, and indeed last week there were reports of a complete collapse of Arafat's immune system. Other than the ruled-out cancer, the low count could be attributed to bleeding ulcers, colitis, liver disease, lupus, or HIV. It is believed that ulcers and colitis have already been ruled out.

Arafat has lost a considerable amount of body weight. Hopital d'Instruction des Armees de Percy, southwest of Paris, is known to have some of France's best HIV/AIDS doctors. Other medical experts note that Arafat's activities in recent weeks and months suggest the dementia that accompanies late-stage AIDS.

Medical authorities not connected directly to his case are suggesting that he may have HIV/AIDS. One doctor reported to an Israel Insider source that his suspicions have been growing for more than a year.

"I began to see tell tale signs of kaposis sarcoma. His Parkinsonian tremor was more than just a Parkinsonian tremor and he was also showing signs of weakness. The rumor about homosexuality/bisexuality has been around for decades. So I put two and two together when they started talking about his health over a year ago. The talk of a mysterious illness in this day and age should be a tip-off. He has some of the best physicians in the world attending to him. He can be diagnosed clinically, without perfoming any tests. All the doctors surrounding him know what he has. All this cloak and dagger about tests is a ruse. They understand the implications of divulging that he has HIV. If I were Suha I would be getting a little concerned."

If Arafat has AIDS, that would also explain Suha's reticence to allow the release of significant information about Arafat's condition, and the almost ludicrously tight-lipped reports of the French hospital spokesman, and the refusal of anyone connected with Arafat to hold a press conference in recent days.

A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle, the French captured an English major. Taking the major to their headquarters, the French general began to question him. The French general asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?" In his bland English way, the major informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't show and the men they are leading won't panic. And that is why from that day to now all French Army officers wear brown pants.

i spent the morning with my ma on the Upper East Side today. We went to a really good vegetarian resturant called Candle Cafe, it was really good, especially the asian dumplings that i had. i cant believe im saying this but it is highly possible that by time i get home today i will be out of a job. i cant fucking take that shithole any more. exploitation and all. i should really tell the owner off. shes such a fake...there's a new spongebob episode on tonight yay! they've been showing reruns forever. well i gotta go now....who knows what the future will hold...

bitch

i cant fucking stand my bitch boss. what the fuck is her problem? this is what happened...i was tending to a table of six, the ppl were so FUCKING annoying (except for one, details to follow), for example the woman ordered a turkey sandwich on a roll then she sent it back to be changed to rye bread. she actually (i was almost shocked) made me put her six tomato slices in the microwave for two minutes. she claims that she has trouble digesting food, which makes a waitress wonder why she would then order coke...anyways then a table of twelve came in and ordered like 9 kids meals. it was insane how much i had to keep tending to that stupid table...the woman at the other table (the coke drinking mushy tomato geezer) insisted that i pack up her stupid turkey sandwich and the pita at the table which came with someone else's order of the middle eastern combination. how fucking cheap can u get that u want to take home resturaunt pita bread. i didnt pack it up that nicely but it wasnt so bad...that fucking old woman then went and bitched abt the job that i did to the owner of the resturant, who then proceeded to yell at me. then she yelled at me abt not writing down a soda, then she yelled at me about a salad without even learning the details, that i couldnt bring 9 fucking kids salads to a table already crammed with 12 ppl- of course i had to fucking combine it into one plate. then she was standing in my way so i went to take soup from the other counter and she was like "why are you taking soup from here?" so i said, "because u were standing by the other soup counter." what the fuck is her problem, she was looking for every little excuse to criticize me...stupid bitch....telling me to calm down- what the fuck you moron, im concentrating so that i dont confuse 18 separate orders up. whatever. i have a lot of homework to do...tommorow is Columbus day thank Gd...i wish i had a better job...i fucking hate resturants...she makes her money exploiting minorities might i add...whatever...im not going to let her ruin my night, im not the only waitress she harasses...

why the heck did i just post a journal entry when i wasnt finished? hmmm....
im really anxious that business is going to be slow at the shithole i call my work place. i'm sick of obnoxious ppl ordering and acting like assholes. how oblivious can you be? or do you just not care that the waitress will put in your order for a burger deluxe thinking that you are a heinous bitch.
i'm so grossed out after my neighbor came up this afternoon sharing stories about times when she found worms in food that she bought. i spoke to one of my best friends in israel which was really nice bc i really really really miss her. i owe so many ppl phone calls.
